No obstacle too big for baby unit donation

A local couple have raised a fantastic sum for Ayrshire Maternity Unit’s Neonatal Unit by taking part in a gruelling obstacle course.

Denise and David Brown, from Irvine, completed the ‘Spartan Beast’ 13 mile obstacle course in Edinburgh last year and chose to donate the proceeds to the Neonatal Unit as their twin daughters spent time there when they were born. Denise and David visited the unit, with daughters Grace and Martha and son Oliver, to present a cheque for £700.

Caroline Blake, Clinical Midwife Manager Neonatal Services, said: “On behalf of everyone at the Neonatal Unit, I would like to say a huge thank you to Denise and David and everyone who sponsored them for their wonderful donation. It is very greatly appreciated and will be used to benefit babies who need a little bit of extra care. It was lovely to see the family when they came back to visit us.”
