Police appeal following robbery in Girvan

Police Scotland is appealing for information following a robbery in Girvan on Friday 15 December 2017.

Around 1715 hours on Friday 15 December a 37 year-old woman was delivering a takeaway on Birch Terrace when she was approached by a woman, who was carrying a weapon, and threatened.


The suspect then made off with the woman’s takeaway delivery bag.


The suspect is described as white, aged between 40-50 and 5ft 6 of slim build. She was wearing a dark jacket and trousers, possibly jeans, at the time of the incident.


Officers are carrying out door to door enquiries within the vicinity however are looking for the support of the public and the media.


Detective Constable, Janet Ferguson, Ayr CID, said:

“This was a terrifying ordeal which has left a woman badly shaken. It is vital that we find the person responsible".


“The area is residential and would have had people coming home from their work at the time. Do you live nearby? Do you remember seeing anyone matching the description?


“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything, no matter how insignificant, to come forward and contact us.”
