Police appealing for information following an assault with intent to Rob in Ayr

Police are appealing for information following an assault with intent to rob in Ayr on Friday 9 November 2018.

Around 2.45 pm yesterday afternoon, two men, armed with weapons, broke into a house in James Campbell Road, Ayr, and threatened the 45 year old female householder. They ransacked one of the rooms, however, made off empty handed.


The woman was not injured but has been left very shaken by what happened.


The two suspects are described as:


1. White, aged between 18 and 22 years, approximately 5 ft 10 in height and of slim build. He was wearing a light blue hooded top which was covering his face.


2. White, around 5 ft 8 in height and of medium build. He was wearing a navy jumper, dark jogging bottoms and had a hood covering his face.


Detective Constable Paul McRoberts, Ayr CID, is leading the investigation. He said:


“Officers are currently checking CCTV and speaking to neighbours in case anyone saw the two men who ran off towards James Campbell Court afterwards.


“This happened mid-afternoon and there would have been people about, so if you saw any one acting suspiciously or have any information that will assist our enquiry, then please contact Ayr CID via 101. Quote reference number 2291 of the 9th November when calling.


“Details can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
