Police arrest two men after housebreakings in Ayr

Police in Ayr today arrested two men for alleged housebreakings in the Ayr and Prestwick areas.

Following enquiries led by the Locality Policing and Priority Policing Teams the two males were identified and arrested this morning. Both will appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday 2 October 2019 charged with 15 separate crimes. Officers also recovered in excess of 140 items all believed to be property from alleged housebreakings to domestic and commercial properties in the area. Enquiries will continue in relation to property recovered and further charges may follow.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, Area Commander, said


‘Housebreaking is a despicable crime that has a profound impact on victims. Local officers have been carrying out enquiries to trace those responsible and today’s action demonstrates that we will do all we can to identify and arrest those allegedly involved in such crimes’ ‘I am hopeful that further charges will follow and we will be in a position to return property to owners in due course’. ‘I would remind householders and business owners to do all they can to secure premises. Please make sure doors and windows are closed and if an alarm system is installed that this is activated’.
