South Ayrshire Council is delighted to announce that the improvement works to Prestwick Leisure Club are now complete and the facility will re-open to the public on Monday 29 September.

As part of the project, the facility has received significant upgrades, made possible after receiving a SALIX grant, which enabled a range of energy efficiency measures to be implemented within the building. Improvements have also been made to the changing rooms, entrance foyer, and swimming pool to enhance customer experience.
To improve the quality of service for our customers, the changing facilities have been transformed, providing a bright and modern environment. The space has been redesigned to offer an additional 16 private cubicles, including dedicated family and baby changing rooms.
Customers will be treated to a welcoming entrance foyer and reception area, which has been updated to improve their overall experience, whilst also providing staff with a modern working environment.
The pool has received extensive remedial work to the tiles, grout and pool surround, which will significantly enhance the swimming experience. In line with the overall strategy to improve energy efficiency, the swimming pool has been fitted with a new cover to reduce heat loss overnight, minimise evaporation and reduce humidity.
The roof and wall cladding have been modernised to improve insulation. This will see a reduction in heat loss, whilst also enhancing the appearance and durability of the building. A new state-of-the-art air handling system has been installed to improve ventilation and air quality throughout the facility.

To help generate clean, renewable energy on-site, solar photovoltaic panels have been fitted, which will reduce our carbon footprint and operational costs. In addition, the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) has received an essential upgrade, allowing for smarter and more efficient control of heating, ventilation and energy usage across the facility.
South Ayrshire Council’s Director of Communities and Transformation, Jane Bradley, said: “I’m delighted that the works to Prestwick Leisure Club are now complete, and we are really looking forward to welcoming back customers to the upgraded facility later this month.
“The needs of the local community are at the heart of our decision making and the upgrades carried out will benefit everyone using the facility. Not only will the improvements help to support customers to maximise their health and wellbeing, they will also help us to take another step towards our targets to reduce our carbon footprint.”
