Ayr SNP MSP Siobhian Brown has welcomed the £88.2m increase in health spending in NHS Ayrshire and Arran in the SNP Scottish Government’s recent Budget.

The funding - part of a record investment of almost £22.5 billion in the NHS in the Budget - will see funding for NHS Ayrshire and Arran increase from £1,006.6m in 2025-26, to £1,094.8m in 2026-2027 - an 8.8% increase.
The funding will help enable the expansion of the number of Hospital at Home beds to at least 2,000 across Scotland by the end of 2026.
The new NHS budget also contains £2.4 billion for primary care, including £36 million for new walk-in GP services, with the first to launch later this year.
Commenting, Ayr MSP Siobhian Brown said:
“Record funding for the NHS announced by the SNP Scottish Government this week will ensure people here in Ayr, Prestwick and Troon can access the care they need when they need it.
“It will also mean the expansion and rollout of new services across Scotland, including Hospital at Home, and GP walk-in centres.
“Under the SNP, waiting times are coming down and GP numbers going up. There is still much work to do but this proposed budget will help to build on recent improvements.
“If other parties are serious about improving our health service rather than continually talking it down, they must support this budget which delivers record funding for our NHS.”
