The Fishermen’s Mission support active and former fishermen and sea-going staff working in the UK aquaculture industry, and migrant fishermen working on UK vessels.

Their centre at Troon acts as an essential community hub for local fishermen, providing a comfortable open-plan space for recreation and training.

Dowey met with Troon Mission Officer Louise Liddell and Chaplain Joe O’Donnell of charity Stella Maris, who similarly support seafarers both in Scotland and around the world.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Sharon Dowey said:

“It was a real pleasure to visit the Fishermen’s Mission in Troon and learn more about the valuable work they do in supporting fishermen and their families.

“Thank you to Louise for showing me around their site at Troon, and I look forward to engaging with them further in the future.”
