South Ayrshire Council announce new employee charity partner with Whiteleys Retreat

We’re delighted to announce that Whiteleys Retreat has been chosen as our new Employee Charity Partner.

Each year our staff vote to decide which local charity they would like to support. This time, Whiteleys Retreat came out on top after receiving the highest number of staff votes.

Whiteleys Retreat, located on the outskirts of Ayr, provides vital therapeutic respite breaks for children, young people and their families with cancer or life altering illness in Ayrshire.

Situated within 32 acres of idyllic countryside, the retreat helps to build resilience, inner strength and create lasting memories for the whole family unit.

The partnership, which will begin on Thursday 1 April, will run for a period of 12 months.

Chief Executive of South Ayrshire Council, Eileen Howat said:

“The last year has been particularly challenging for charities as they’ve suffered the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our employee charity partnerships really do help make a difference to the many people who rely on the services delivered by charitable organisations.

“Whiteleys Retreat is clearly a very popular choice with our employees, and I look forward to working with their team to help support this wonderful local cause.”

Maxine Allan, Founder and CEO of Whiteleys Retreat said:

“We are overwhelmed to have been chosen this year as South Ayrshire Council’s Employee Charity Partner.

“Over the years, we have enjoyed a strong relationship of support from employees in various sectors of the Council, and now to be the winning voted charity by these wonderful hard-working people is an absolute honour.

“This partnership will help the charity raise much needed funds – which have been depleted since the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, however it is not only about funds; it’s imperative that we raise awareness of the vital services that we offer at Whiteleys Retreat. We aim to reach every child, young person and family who needs our support, and with the Council’s help – we are heading in the right direction. Thank you to everyone who voted for the charity. We look forward to a positive year ahead for us all!”
