Stagecoach West Scotland is introducing a temporary weekend shuttle service on its X34 and X36 services operating between Beith and Glasgow.
The shuttle service will commence on Saturday 25th November and will run until Sunday 31st December 2017 and is being introduced so that mainline X34 and X36 services operating to Glasgow will not be caught in congestion in and around the intu Braehead Shopping Centre during the busy shopping period in the run up to Christmas. The shuttle service will depart from the Strand in Beith to intu Braehead on an hourly frequency on Saturdays and Sundays.
The current X34 from Irvine to Glasgow via Beith and the X36 from Ardrossan to Glasgow via Beith which usually serve intu Braehead at weekends will operate directly to Glasgow City Centre and will be retimed to reflect this temporary change in route. Tom Bridge Managing Director Stagecoach West Scotland said
“On 4th June 2017 journeys to intu Braehead were introduced on the X34 and X36 services. The option of travelling to intu Braehead has proved very successful and a popular choice for our customers. However over the Christmas period intu Braehead can become extremely congested with shoppers doing their Christmas shopping. We have therefore introduced this shuttle service from Beith to allow shoppers to choose between shopping in Glasgow City Centre or intu Braehead without suffering delays due to incremental Christmas traffic on the roads.” "Our passengers can continue to travel to intu Braehead as normal on weekdays right throughout the Christmas period. We look forward to welcoming all passengers on board throughout November and December and beyond into 2018."
