“This exciting development, along with the new Leisure Centre at the Arran Mall, will transform Ayr and help us realise our vision for a vibrant town centre, making South Ayrshire a better place to live.
“This is fantastic news, not just for cinema lovers, but for local businesses and job opportunities.
“We are working in partnership with the Arc Cinema and Squarestone Hub to deliver
theproject, aiming for construction to start at the Kyle Centre in 2023.”
Councillor, Siobhian Brown told Ayrshire Daily News:
“I was advised of this earlier in the week and the plans look very exciting. This is incredibly positive news for our town. For years a lot of work has been going on in the background to transform our town centre.
“Ayr town centre, like so many other towns has suffered greatly due to change in shopping habits with online shopping and industrial estates having a detrimental effect on our towns. Covid has exasperated the situation even further with even more closures.
“We have to look at other ways to attract people into our town. The new state of the art Leisure Centre will be going to full public consultation shortly where the public can tell us what kind of facility the people of South Ayrshire would like.
“With the Magnum gone this gives us an opportunity for Ayr to be destination point on the west coast of Scotland for families to visit and the facility providing family fun and flumes etc. With the new neighbouring cinema facility now proceeding - this is the extremely exciting news for our town. Finally we have some great news!!!!!”
