Stewarton Drama Group is preparing to open its doors to audiences next February with a witty and thought-provoking production of An Incident at the Border, the acclaimed comic play by Kieran Lynn that explores the absurdities of division, authority and the invisible lines that separate people.

The show will run across three performances at the group’s own intimate 40-seat theatre inside the SDG Premises at the Scout Building, Corsehillbank Street, Stewarton. Evening performances take place on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February at 7.30pm, with a Sunday matinee on 15 February at 2pm.

Directed by Dee Maccoll, the production features a strong local cast including Gavin Cook, Gary Miller and Kirsty Carson. Together, they bring to life Lynn’s sharp, fast-paced comedy, which follows a couple whose peaceful stroll in the park is abruptly interrupted by the sudden appearance of a newly drawn national border. Under the watchful eye of an eager border guard, the pair are thrown into a bizarre stand-off between two hostile nations, forced to confront how a simple painted line can spiral into a crisis of loyalties, rules and identity.

An Incident at the Border first made waves at Glasgow’s Oran Mor as part of the popular A Play, A Pie and A Pint lunchtime theatre series before later being recorded for BBC Radio 4. Stewarton’s staging promises an up-close experience of the play’s humour and tension, with each performance offering a relaxed setting complete with wine on sale and a fundraising raffle.

Tickets are priced at £6 and are available exclusively online through Ticketebo. Organisers say seats are already selling quickly and encourage early booking to avoid missing out.

A Facebook event page has also been created for updates and sharing among theatre supporters.

With only three performances and limited seating, Stewarton Drama Group’s winter production is shaping up to be one of the local theatre highlights of early 2026.
