Resurfacing Works Between Holmston & Bankfield Roundabouts Starts Today

Updated: Mar 11

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A77at Ayr between Bankfield Roundabout and Holmston Roundabout from Monday 11th March until Sunday 24th March 2024.

This scheme will benefit around 34,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out using a combination of overnight closures between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night, and daytime temporary traffic lights. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

The signed diversion will operate as follows:

  • Northbound traffic will exit the A77 at Bankfield Roundabout, taking the first exit onto the A713 Dalmellington Road and continuing onto Castlehill Road, before turning right at the double roundabout onto the A70 Holmston Road. From here, traffic will continue  to Holmston Roundabout to re-join the A77.

  • Southbound traffic will exit the A77 at Holmston Roundabout then turn left onto Hillfoot Road, following to the roundabout to take the first exit onto the A713 Dalmellington Road, re-joining the A77 at Bankfield Roundabout.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather-dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
