Twins are among new intake at North Ayrshire schools

Twins are among the intake of new P1 pupils as teachers across North Ayrshire welcome all children for the new term.

Staff will be seeing double at Loudoun-Montgomery Primary School, where Headteacher Paul Bleakley and his team offered a warm welcome to not one, but two, sets of P1 twins earlier this week. (Wednesday 20 August)Siblings Isla and Tyler Lindsay, aged five, and Maizie and Millar Hands, aged four, are on the roll at the Irvineschool.

Mr Bleakley said: “We were delighted to welcome all of our returning pupils back to school this morning after the summer break.

“And we look forward to all of our new P1 pupils – including Isla, Tyler, Maizie and Millar – settling in as they start their learning journey and make new friends.”

Other schools that have welcomed twins are:

• Montgomerie Park Primary School, Irvine: Tillie and Darcie McInnes, aged five

• Beith Primary School: Olivia and Sophia Waugh, aged four, and Hudson and Findlay Keir, aged five and

• West Kilbride Primary School: Abbie and Mia Pellegrini, aged four, and Cooper and Eleanor Ort, aged five.

Councillor Shaun Macaulay, Cabinet Member for Education and Young People, added: “This is always an exciting time of year for families who have children starting their education in Primary One, and some families will have more than one child taking their first steps into ‘the big school’.

“On behalf of all of our schools, I would like to offer avery warm welcome to all of the twins who are starting their primary education. I extend this welcome to all other pupils starting the new term in North Ayrshire, and wish them the best for the coming months."
