Woman aged 97 dies after being knocked down on Holmston Road in Ayr

Holmston Road was closed from around 5pm yesterday evening by police, as a 97 year old woman was struck by a BMW whilst walking her dog.

The woman was taking to Ayr Hospital where she died shortly after. 

Her Jack Russell dog also died whilst with Police, on route to a local vets.

Police investigation teams closed the road from Ayr Cemetery to the roundabout near Ayr Train Station until 10pm - Sunday evening.

Police are appealing for any information, to contact them via Irvine Police Station on 101.
