As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road maintenance programme, Scotland TranServ will undertake the resurfacing of the A77 Northbound Kilmarnock Bypass from Spittalhill to Inchgotrick Bridge.
Works to resurface 1 kilometre of trunk road will get under way at 8pm on Friday 1st and run until 6am on Monday 4th December. In order to complete the £330,000 project as quickly and safely as possible it will be necessary to close the Northbound carriageway. Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s principal Roads Design Engineer said: “In order to resurface this stretch of the A77 Northbound as efficiently and safely as possible, it will be necessary to close the carriageway over the weekend, with a local diversion in place. The works will address existing issues with surface defects and structural cracking. “We have worked in liaison with Police Scotland, local authorities and key stakeholders to schedule these works for the period of least impact on businesses and commuters. It is important with winter approaching and temperatures dropping that our works are completed.” Emergency Service and local access will be provided throughout the works, however there will be no provision for abnormal loads or windfarm movements. Motorists are advised to plan ahead before setting out, with additional journey times of around 20 minutes forecast on the diversion. Please click the button below to view the route:
